One of the worlds most respected journalists Suzy Menkes has today been appointed International Vogue Editor.
Suzy has worked as a critic for the The International New York Times for over 25 years, recently winning the special recognition award at the British Fashion Awards for her outstanding career.
She will be reporter on all international websites including Britain, France, Italy, China, Russia, Japan, Germany and Spain and will also take a lead role in organising an annual luxury goods conference supported by Condé Nast International
“I am thrilled to become international Vogue editor at Condé Nast International, which has a real commitment to journalistic excellence, and to have the opportunity to write for a wider global audience through the Vogue websites,” said Menkes. “I am grateful to have spent 25 years at the International Herald Tribune – a newspaper where I had unstinting support in being able to express myself freely and honestly. I feel this is the perfect time to embrace a new challenge in the digital age.”
“Suzy Menkes is a unique talent, with superb judgement about fashion and keen insight into the business behind it,” said Jonathan Newhouse, Condé Nast International chairman and chief executive. “She is hugely influential and respected. Her contribution will bring even greater quality and authority to the Vogue brand.”
A comment I wholeheartedly agree.
