New York Fashion week is in full swing and I have already seen trends appearing.
Sports luxe/relaxed/casual seems to be the winning look at the moment with white being the dominant colour.
One of my favorite designers Alexander Wang showed micro A-line flared mini skirts with boxy cropped jumpers and those rounded shoulders that seem to be a continuing trend from AW/13. The hints of this sports luxe trend can also be seen by designers such as Rag & Bone featuring oversized cricket jumpers with exaggerated deep V’s or polo shirt dresses by designers such as BCBG Max Azria. Victoria Beckham’s collection (how cute was little Harper on the front row!) kept the minimalist sports luxe look looking chic & sophisticated in monochrome.
I have mentioned some of these predictions in my blog from my visit to Pure London, but it is interesting to now see them emerge on the catwalks.
Other trends I spotted was solid & sheer stripes/paneling by BCBG Max Azria & Lacoste, and contrasting colour blocking featured by Altuzarra & Prabal Gurung where the garments were not only made with different patterns, but different fabrics & textures as well.
I think we are going to see a lot more of both of these trends over the next few weeks.
I love fashion week! & there are still so many more shows to come which I ‘m really excited about. I’m also particularly looking forward to London fashion week where I will be presenting and hopefully seeing the shows first hand.
….. As always I will write a summary for you all afterwards.
