Royal Baby Boy. What Will They Wear?

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have had a baby boy. Born at St Mary’s, Paddington hospital in my home town of London at 4.24pm today, weighing eight pounds and six ounces.

The birth was officially announced on an easel outside Buckingham Palace as per royal tradition “Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well.” But like all celebrities and royals in the public eye, the question now is what will Kate and the new Royal baby wear for their public appearance?

Luckily for Kate, we have just seen Men’s S/S14 Fashion Week, so there is plenty of inspiration for our new Royal. Blue being a top colour chosen by designers such as Hermès, Canali & Giorgio Armani & very British tailoring seen by designers such as E. Tautz.
If the baby isn’t shown to the world in a neutral christening gown or garment, then I’d suggest something like this …

Kate however has two options, either wear her usual high-street classic style known around the globe, or, wear a real statement piece fitting for this huge occasion. With the temperature rising to 32 degrees today on the hottest day in the last 7yrs and with thunderstorms on the way, I’m expecting Kate will opt for a formal dress with capped sleeves by the likes of Issa. Possibly in a solid pastel blue or a neutral colour with v-neck. But as the world will be looking at these pictures for decades to come, I’d like to think Kate will wear some kind of lavish custom made design by a British designer like Alexander McQueen.
